1. Images

Most of the OERs we have received from you so far contain images. While undoubtedly these images facilitate delivery of the material, we need to be careful of copyright issues when it comes to releasing OERs into the public domain. This copyright-friendly wiki has a good collection of links to images you can use. Do add  your comments on these resources here and let us know about any other websites you found useful!

In addition, in one of his earlier e-mails, Darren suggested some good sources of websites where you can find copyright-free images, you will find them below:

BBC Motion Gallery JISC Service

BBC Motion Gallery is the BBC's archive clip licensing business and the exclusive

global representative of footage material from leading broadcasters as well as

numerous other acclaimed archives. The JISC service allows all staff and students of

subscribed institutions to access a vast collection of clips for use in

presentations, lectures, coursework and media.

You can also get access to the "public" version of the service, where you can find a

number of royalty free clips.

Newsfilm Online

Another JISC repository, you have to log in via the usual JISC gateway, but as

mentioned briefly on Wednesday you can search for video material and take still

images - having said that, I'm not 100% sure on the copyright restrictions of this

at the moment ... on the terms of use page it mentions "deposit learning and

teaching objects created using parts of NFO in Jorum and your institution's

repository." But this probably does not mean JORUM Open. Have a look by all means,

but I shall query this with HEA if anyone wants to use anything from this

collection.
